Former England captain Nasser Hussain has been officially included in the commentary panel for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, set to take place in India and Sri Lanka. His selection comes amidst a wave of discussion following his recent sharp criticism of the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding the exclusion of Bangladesh from the tournament.

Hussain recently made headlines for questioning the ICC's consistency, specifically asking if the governing body would have applied the same strict rules to India in a similar situation. Speaking on the Sky Sports Cricket Podcast, Hussain posed a hypothetical scenario: "If India, a month before a tournament, said, 'Our government does not want us to play in a country for a World Cup,' would the ICC have been so firm and said, 'You know the rules, bad luck, we're knocking you out?'"
He further asserted, "The only thing all sides ask for is consistency. Bangladesh, Pakistan, and India must be treated the same," adding that "with power comes responsibility." These comments drew significant reactions on social media, with some users pointing out historical ironies regarding England's past boycotts.
Despite the backlash, Hussain remains a central figure in a broadcast team described as "illustrious." He joins renowned voices such as Ravi Shastri, Ian Smith, and Ian Bishop. The panel also features former T20 World Cup winners Aaron Finch and Eoin Morgan, alongside commentary debutants Angelo Mathews and Temba Bavuma.
ICC TV is set to deliver comprehensive coverage with six dedicated production crews and nearly 720 broadcast professionals involved. Hussain’s inclusion signals that the ICC values his expert analysis and broadcasting pedigree above the recent off-field friction.
