A fully fit Washington Sundar is set to rejoin the Indian squad in New Delhi ahead of their T20 World Cup clash against Namibia on February 12, captain Suryakumar Yadav confirmed after India’s 29-run victory over the USA on Saturday.

“Washington Sundar is fit and will be joining the squad directly in Delhi (ahead of the Namibia game),” Suryakumar said at the post-match presentation.
The India skipper also revealed that fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was down with a high fever, while opener Abhishek Sharma was “under the weather” during the match. Abhishek did not take the field for a significant period, with Sanju Samson stepping in as the substitute fielder.
Sundar had earlier suffered a side strain and rib muscle tear during the ODI series against New Zealand, forcing him to miss the subsequent T20I series in the lead-up to the World Cup. The Tamil Nadu all-rounder has since completed an intensive rehabilitation programme and fulfilled all Return to Play protocols before receiving clearance from the BCCI’s medical and sports science team.
Over the past week, Sundar has been training at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, bowling and batting without any discomfort, paving the way for his return to competitive action.
India, however, continues to deal with injury concerns. Pacer Harshit Rana has already been ruled out of the tournament due to a knee injury and is expected to be sidelined for a considerable period.
