NEW DELHI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has persisted with its policy of not allowing Indian players' families to stay with them during the duration of the T20 World Cup campaign, The Indian Express reported.
As per BCCI policy, players' families (partners and children) are allowed to stay with them for a maximum of 14 days only if an overseas tour exceeds 45 days.
"The Indian team management had approached the BCCI to ask whether wives and fiancées can travel with the team and whether they can also stay with them. The board has made it clear that families won't be staying with the players. They can make separate arrangements, though, if they want to,' a BCCI source told The Indian Express.

India will play three league matches at home and one match in Colombo during the T20 World Cup. Before the tournament, the team took part in several bilateral series, but players' families were not allowed to stay with them during those tours.
The Suryakumar Yadav-led team will travel by private charter flights throughout the tournament. Players have arranged personal chefs, who will cook food at nearby hotels and deliver it to them.
The rule about families not travelling with the team is not new. In 2025, after India's tour of Australia, the BCCI introduced a set of guidelines regarding family visits. In recent years, especially after Covid, players were allowed to have their families with them for the entire tour.
However, members of the support staff later shared that some players missed informal team meetings and planning discussions because they were spending time with their families. After this, the BCCI decided to bring back its earlier policy and restrict family stays during tours.
