IND vs SA Highlights, 1st Test Day 1: India 37 for 1 at stumps on opening day

Day 1 comes to a close with India at 37/1, trailing by 122 runs. KL Rahul remains unbeaten on 13 off 59 balls, hitting two boundaries. Yashasvi Jaiswal was the only wicket lost, bowled by Marco Jansen.

OUT! Yashasvi Jaiswal is bowled by Marco Jansen. He attempted a cut off a ball angling back into him but got a thick inside edge, leaving his middle stump shattered. India lose their first wicket early. IND 18/1 in (7)

FOUR! Yashasvi Jaiswal continues his fine start with another elegant drive past the bowler. The delivery was slightly full and outside off, and Jaiswal punished it with precision. IND 13/0 in (5.3)

FOUR! Yashasvi Jaiswal gets off the mark with a beautiful drive past mid-off. The full delivery outside off was perfectly timed and raced to the boundary. India start positively at 8/0 in (4.4)

The Indian innings is underway with KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal opening the batting. Marco Jansen takes the new ball for South Africa as India look to build a strong start after a dominant bowling performance.

The final session of Day 1 is underway. India will look to wrap up South Africa’s innings while the visitors aim to steady the lower order and add some crucial runs before stumps.

Excellent session for India as they take 5 wickets for just 49 runs in 25 overs. Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah led the charge after lunch, giving nothing away. Wiaan Mulder was trapped LBW by Kuldeep while Tony de Zorzi was bowled by Bumrah as India continued to dismantle South Africa’s middle and lower order.

OUT! Corbin Bosch is trapped LBW by Axar Patel after missing a forward defensive shot, the ball hitting the front pad in line with the stumps. India wrap up the lower order and that will be Tea on Day 1. SA 154/8 in (52)
