Rumors are spreading all over the world of professional wrestling that AJ Styles is considering his retirement next year, and much like John Cena, he will also have a retirement tour throughout 2026. Styles and Cena delivered one of the most entertaining matches in the history of wrestling at Crown Jewel, and the rumors have started to float only after that.

John Cena announced it last year at the Money in the Bank event that he would retire by the end of 2025. He started his retirement tour at the Netflix RAW Premiere, and so far, it has been really amazing. He had his first heel run in over twenty years, he won the record breaking 17th World Championship. He will wrestle his final match at the Saturday Night's Main Event show on December 13.

Vince Russo is concerned about the potential retirement tour of AJ Styles

AJ Styles is presently rumored to have a retirement tour in the same fashion, but professional wrestling legend Vince Russo is quite concerned about this proposed retirement tour if it actually happens. Speaking on his “Writing with Russo” podcast recently, the former writer of WCW and WWE stated the following;

AJ Styles is rumored to retire by the end of 2026

“I don’t even know. Like, I don’t know what to tell you. As a shoot, I would let AJ [Styles] work against who he wants to work against. Let’s face it, we’re in the era of the five-star match. There is no way out, especially when he announces he’s on his way out.

He is also rumored to have a retirement tour like John Cena next year

"So you can’t do a loser-leaves-town angle because you told us you’re leaving. So we know you’re leaving at the end of the year. Everybody knows the end of the story. So knowing them, the easy way out is to let them have matches with people that he wants to have matches, man.” said Vince Russo.

AJ Styles was active in WWE in 2016, but he earned most of his early recognition while working in TNA Wrestling. He was one of the few wrestlers that TNA Wrestling created. However, he became world famous after he joined WWE. He is still one of the most high flying wrestlers in WWE, even at the age of 48, and it will be a huge loss for the wrestling world once he retires.
