Alberto Del Rio was brought into WWE back in 2010, and he was instantly promoted as a main event star of the promotion. Vince McMahon made it clear that he is going to be his next big project after he won the Royal Rumble match of 2011. It was also the biggest Royal Rumble match of the main series as it contained 40 men.
Alberto Del Rio was active in WWE for multiple years, and he had always been promoted as one of the promotion. He had been a four times WWE World Champion, and he also accomplished multiple other successes in the promotion, including the Royal Rumble match of 2011, that is already mentioned.

Why Alberto Del Rio received the main event push in WWE
But despite being pushed to the moon, he also received a lot of criticism from the whole world of professional wrestling. Still, Vince McMahon never stopped pushing him as a top star. Del Rio recently remembered his main event push in WWE and explained why he received that push. Speaking with Eduardo Bates, Del Rio explained the following;
Alberto Del Rio is a four times WWE World Champion
“Vince created all the characters—the entire golden era of WWE exists because of him. What most people don’t know—because they really don’t know him—is that he’s the mastermind behind the industry. Everything we have in wrestling today exists thanks to him.

Del Rio never returned to WWE after leaving the promotion in 2016
"I was always one of his favorites because of my dedication, professionalism, and effectiveness—because Alberto Del Rio can do whatever he wants with the crowd. He makes them believe, makes them feel that what’s happening in the ring is real, exactly as he intends it to be.” said the former four times WWE World Champion.
A large number of fans still wonder why Vince McMahon pushed Del Rio to the moon despite so much criticism. Some fans believe that he pushed him to the main event level because he wanted to capture the Mexican market, much like he pushed The Great Khali to catch the Indian market. Del Rio will always be remembered as one of the worst World Champions in WWE history.
