One of the most famous things about Goldberg is his finishing move Spear. It is said to have been invented by the professional wrestling legend, and it had high inspiration from his American Football career before he became a professional wrestler. The move became extremely famous, and it also became his signature.

He never worked regularly in the wrestling world, but his move became so famous that many wrestlers started using it as their finishers. Rhyno started using it first while working in ECW. Edge also changed his finisher to Spear after he started working solo in WWE. Bobby Lashley was another wrestler who used it.

Then it was Batista who adopted the move, followed by Roman Reigns, who had been the face of WWE for a long time. Most recently, one of the future main eventers of WWE, Bron Breakker, is also using this move as his finisher. Moreover, the Spear is one of the most commonly used finishers in wrestling history.

Goldberg invented his finisher, the Spear

But this move will always be remembered to be invented by Goldberg. WWE Hall of Famer Bubba Ray Dudley recently discussed Goldberg's move getting used regularly in WWE and how the former three times World Champion would feel about his move getting used by other wrestlers. Speaking on the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, he explained the following;

The Spear is now used by various wrestlers like Roman Reigns and Bron Breakker

“But what I am hearing is, since you don’t like Goldberg so much, you hear this stuff and it compounds everything. He takes his move seriously. Listen, it’s a spear, dude. It’s not something that was invented by you; it’s been around for a long time. One of those universal moves, okay? Just like an RKO and a Diamond Cutter, you got the spear over a lot, and the spear led to the Jackhammer. Great—but it’s still a universal move. It’s not something that was uniquely invented. So he’s upset about his spear—I kinda get his mentality.”

“But other than the mispronunciation and not knowing Asuka’s name, I can understand how that might sound disrespectful, but he just might not be up to speed on it. He doesn’t pay enough attention to the product. He probably gets pieces here and there of, ‘Hey, they have a Japanese girl over there who beat your streak.'” said the Tag Team legend.
