Argentine football icon Lionel Messi’s arrival in New Delhi for the final leg of his G.O.A.T Tour of India has been delayed after his charter flight was held up due to adverse weather conditions.

Messi, who spent Sunday in Mumbai as part of his three-day visit to India, was scheduled to land in the national capital earlier on Monday. However, dense fog in Delhi forced a delay, with the World Cup winner currently waiting at Mumbai airport before departing for his final set of engagements.

Once in Delhi, Messi is expected to attend a ticketed fan event at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, marking the concluding stop of his India tour.

The 36-year-old captivated fans in Mumbai on Sunday evening, sharing the spotlight with cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar as well as several Bollywood personalities and political figures. Prior to Mumbai, Messi made appearances in Hyderabad and Kolkata as part of the multi-city tour.

The Kolkata leg, however, was overshadowed by chaotic scenes at the Salt Lake Stadium. Frustrated supporters reportedly damaged seats and entered the playing area after being unable to catch a clear glimpse of the Argentine star, who remained surrounded by officials and dignitaries throughout the event.
