NEW DELHI: In a historic moment, the stands named after former World Cup-winning star Yuvraj Singh and Women's World Cup-winning captain Harmanpreet Kaur were officially unveiled ahead of the second T20I between India and South Africa at Mullanpur, New Chandigarh. Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann also felicitated Yuvraj and Harmanpreet.

Yuvraj's longtime teammate Harbhajan Singh has a pavilion named after him at the stadium and Harmanpreet joined him on the other side of the sightscreen.

Yuvraj was at the stadium and spent time addressing India’s team huddle, sharing laughs with the players both during and after the session.

The New Chandigarh Stadium (Mullanpur) is hosting its first-ever men's international cricket match. During IPL 2025, the venue staged six games, with four of them won by the team batting first.

Joining the celebration were Harmanpreet's World Cup-winning teammates Harleen Deol and Amanjot Kaur, along with India's fielding coach Munish Bali. Newly appointed BCCI president Mithun Manhas was also present at the venue.

Following the inauguration of the stands named after the legends, CM Mann presented cash awards on behalf of the state: Rs 11 lakh each to Harleen Deol, Amanjot Kaur, and captain Harmanpreet Kaur, while Munish Bali received Rs 5 lakh.

Harmanpreet recently played a crucial role in India's historic maiden ICC triumph, steering the team to victory in last month's Women's ODI World Cup.

Competing in her fifth edition of the tournament, she led from the front, inspiring India’s remarkable comeback after enduring three consecutive defeats.
