NEW DELHI: BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar may have said that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli remain non-committal about playing in the 2027 ODI World Cup, but Rohit has made his intentions clear to participate in the showpiece event, putting all speculation to rest.
The former Indian captain shared his desire during a heartfelt interaction with a Make-A-Wish child, in a video that has since gone viral. He affirmed his unwavering goal of winning the World Cup - a trophy that has remained beyond his reach so far in his illustrious career.
"Kid to Rohit Sharma: 'When is the next one-day World Cup'?
Rohit Sharma: '2027'
Kid: 'Are you going to play it'?
Rohit Sharma: 'Yes, I want to play'"

All eyes will be on Rohit and Kohli in the first ODI against Australia on Sunday, as the star duo returns to action for the first time since representing India in the Champions Trophy earlier this year.
Both Kohli and Rohit retired from Tests earlier this year and had called time on their India T20 career after winning the World Cup in Barbados last year.
Agarkar said both batters will be "assessed" but it would be "silly" to put them on trial in each and every ODI that they play from hereon.
"It will be silly to put them on trial for every game. Once they start playing they will be assessed but they are not on trial," Agarkar said at the 'NDTV World Summit'.
Reiterating what he said in Ahmedabad after announcing Shubman Gill as new ODI skipper a couple of weeks back, Agarkar once again avoided committing on their selection for an event which is still two years away.
"It doesn't mean if they don't get runs in Australia, they would be dropped and similarly if they score three tons in Australia, they would be selected for 2027 World Cup," the former pacer said.
