NEW DELHI: The year 2025 saw several standout bowling performances by Indian bowlers across formats. While it was a mixed year for the Test side overall, India still produced moments that will be remembered for years.

From match turning spells in pressure games to individual brilliance in tough conditions, here are the top five bowling performances by Indian bowlers in 2025.

1. Varun Chakravarthy 5/24 Vs England

Varun Chakravarthy delivered a rare and exceptional T20I spell during the third T20I against England in January. England looked set for a big total after a strong start, but Chakravarthy changed the course of the innings.

Bowling with control and sharp variations, he picked up five wickets while conceding just 24 runs. While other bowlers went for runs, he applied the brakes and struck regularly. Despite India losing the match, his five-wicket haul stood out as a special individual effort.

2. Kuldeep Yadav 3/40 Vs Pakistan

Kuldeep Yadav once again proved his value in big matches during the Champions Trophy clash against Pakistan in February 2025. On a surface that offered little margin for error, Kuldeep bowled with discipline and intelligence. His three wickets broke Pakistan’s momentum in the middle overs and played a major role in restricting them to 241.

3. Mohammed Siraj 5/104 at The Oval

One of the most dramatic Tests of 2025 unfolded at The Oval during the fifth Test of the Anderson Tendulkar Trophy. India pulled off a stunning six run victory. Mohammed Siraj was the hero on the final day as he wrapped up the England tail.

His five-wicket haul came through relentless pace and intensity, extracting life from the pitch. Siraj’s spell turned a near impossible situation into a famous Indian Test win.

4. Akash Deep 6/99 at Edgbaston

Akash Deep announced himself on the big stage with a commanding performance against England at Edgbaston. Chasing a massive target in the fourth innings, England still hoped for resistance. Akash Deep had other ideas.

5. Washington Sundar 3/3 Vs Australia

Washington Sundar produced one of the most impactful short spells of the year during the fourth T20I against Australia in Queensland. Australia were cruising in pursuit of a modest target when Sundar was introduced.

In just eight deliveries, he completely flipped the game by conceding only three runs and taking three crucial wickets. The sudden collapse derailed Australia’s chase and India went on to win by 48 runs. It was a spell that showed the power of control and timing in T20 cricket.
