NEW DELHI: Five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians have put to rest all speculation surrounding Rohit Sharma's future with the franchise, after rumours swirled that the former India captain might reunite with his long-time friend Abhishek Nayar at Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of IPL 2026.
Mumbai Indians took to social media with a hilarious yet cryptic post to shut down the chatter.
'Rohit Sharma deserves a lot of credit': Rahul Dravid hails India's fearless T20 transformation
"Sun will rise tomorrow again ye toh confirm hai, but at (K)night… मुश्किल ही नहीं, नामुमकिन है! ," MI wrote on X on Thursday.
What stood out in the message was the emphasis on the word 'Knight,’ with the franchise putting the letter 'K' in brackets - a subtle way of rubbishing rumours of Rohit's move to KKR. The post also reflected the franchise’s strong bond with Rohit, suggesting they have no intention of letting their most iconic player walk away.

Abhishek Nayar has replaced Chandrakant Pandit as the new head coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders. Nayar, known for his behind-the-scenes influence on several top Indian cricketers - including Rohit Sharma - has often been credited for helping the opener rediscover his best form.
His strong bond with Rohit, coupled with KKR's recent social media activity, fuelled widespread speculation that the former Mumbai Indians skipper could reunite with his longtime friend in Kolkata ahead of IPL 2026.
The speculation first began when KKR congratulated Rohit Sharma on becoming the World No.1 ODI batter, prompting a fan to cheekily ask if the post hinted at Rohit joining KKR. The franchise quickly replied: "CONFIRM World No.1 Men's ODI Batter."
