India’s left-handed opener Yashasvi Jaiswal seemed destined for a monumental double century against the West Indies in the first innings of the second Test at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Fans filled the stands on Saturday to witness his dazzling stroke play firsthand. However, his sublime knock came to a disappointing end at 175 after a dreadful mix-up with captain Shubman Gill led to his run-out in the opening session of Day 2.

However, his 175 was quite appreciated, and when talking to Brian Lara, the former cricketer joked about being light on the West Indies bowlers. Jaiswal said he focuses on putting the team first, letting that mindset guide his shot selection and helping him convert good starts into big scores.

He has also expressed his admiration for Indian captain, Shubman Gill, "We were just chatting in the middle that if we are set, we should take it long and we need to play our shots as well and we were just trying to retain the strikes and scoring runs when there is opportunity and I think we played really well."
"Gill bhai has backed it amazingly as always and that is what we were talking about, if we are in, we should make it count and just keep playing, playing our instinct as well. If there is a new ball, we should go for runs and it was very nice to bat with him. The way he bats and the way he runs the game when he is backing, I think it's absolutely fantastic," he added.

The day ended with displaying team-first intent, before he declared India’s innings at 518 for five, an hour into the post-lunch session, giving his bowlers ample time to push for victory.
