In light of the recent Asia Cup encounter between India and Pakistan, there has been a lot of unrest between the two nations. At first, the tense environment was limited only to the on-ground tension. But now it has seeped into the broader political scenario as well.

Many quotes filled with hate by the former Pakistani cricketers, commentators and even a few politicians have been doing rounds on Social media and mainstream news as well, following the rise of tensions.

Some of these personalities are very famous names in cricket. For example, Mohammad Yousuf, a legend of Pakistani cricket with over 17,000 international runs under his belt, very recently went on a rant against India and the Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav, not shying away from using derogatory language, calling SKY a "Pig".

  2. 2022- Shoaib Akhtar (former Pakistani cricketer): “I wanted to hit and wound Sachin Tendulkar”

  3. 2021- Bazid Khan (Pakistani Commentator): “Kufar toot gaya” (after India’s loss)

  4. 2021- Sheikh Rashid (former Pakistan minister): “Pakistan's win is a victory of Islam”

  5. 2020- Shoaib Akhtar (former Pakistani cricketer): “We will first capture Kashmir, then invade India for Ghazwa-e-Hind”

  6. 2014- Ahmed Shehzad (former Pakistani cricketer) to Dilshan: “If you turn Muslim, you go straight to heaven” (reported as an attempt to convert)

  7. (Undated)- Shoaib Akhtar (on team selection): Admitted Danish Kaneria was sidelined because he was a Hindu (claiming discrimination in selection)

  8. September 2025- Yousuf Mohammed (former Pakistani cricketer): Referred to Suryakumar Yadav with a vile slur (“Suar Kumar Yadav”) and accused India of fixing umpires (reported on live television during a panel discussion). He further said on Samaa TV, "India is unable to get out of their filmy world. India should be ashamed of the way they are trying to win - using umpires, torturing (Pakistan) by way of the match referee, it is a high note."

  10. October 2021- Waqar Younis (former Pakistani cricketer): Commented that seeing namaz among Hindus was “special” (a mixing of religion and sport that drew criticism.
