A behind-the-scenes moment involving Virat Kohli has taken social media by storm, with a Delhi team bus driver winning praise for his clever and humorous way of recording the star batter without drawing attention.
Kohli recently returned to the domestic circuit with Delhi in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, playing a key role in the team’s two victories so far. As part of his preparations for the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand, beginning January 11, Kohli featured in both of Delhi’s matches at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. The video surfaced online following Delhi’s win over Gujarat on Friday, December 26.

A bus driver found the smartest way to record Virat Kohli while he was getting off the team bus, phone steady, body frozen, zero reaction. Man stayed in character for 30 seconds to record Virat 🤣 pic.twitter.com/p8SWUMsP6F
In the viral clip, the bus driver can be seen discreetly placing his phone to record himself while ensuring Kohli and other Delhi players remained in the frame. The humour lay in his expressionless act — maintaining a straight face and avoiding any sign of excitement or admiration for the former India captain. Along with Kohli, the video also captured Ishant Sharma and several members of the Delhi squad and support staff as they stepped off the team bus.
It remains unclear whether the clip was recorded before or after one of the two matches Kohli played over the past three days, but fans on social media were quick to applaud the driver’s “professional acting,” flooding the comments section with witty reactions.
On the field, Kohli made an immediate impact on his return to domestic cricket. He anchored a challenging chase against Andhra Pradesh with a superb 131 off 101 balls, guiding Delhi to a successful pursuit of 299. He followed it up with a fluent 77 against Gujarat, helping Delhi secure a narrow seven-run win.
During the innings against Gujarat, Kohli also reached the milestone of 1,000 runs in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, achieving the feat in just 15 innings. He finished the tournament stint with 208 runs from two matches, averaging 104 at a strike rate of 128.39.
Kohli has since returned home to Mumbai ahead of India’s ODI series against New Zealand, while Delhi are set to face Saurashtra in Bengaluru on December 29.
