NEW DELHI: Indian wicketkeeper Sanju Samson pulled off a sensational diving catch to dismiss Devon Conway during the first T20I against New Zealand. After India batted handsomely in the first innings, Samson ensured that India got a brilliant start in the second innings.

Conway’s struggles continue

The moment came when Arshdeep Singh bowled a fullish delivery that moved away. Conway went chasing for a cover drive and got a thick edge. Sanju moved low to his left and backed himself, pulling off a stunning one-handed diving catch. It was a poor shot from Conway and a brilliant effort from Samson.

Notably, Arshdeep has now dismissed Conway four times in 13 balls in T20Is.

Devon Conway’s poor run continued in the T20I series as well. The New Zealand opener failed to fire in the ODI series earlier and started this innings in a similar fashion. Conway has been dealing with form issues for quite a long period now and once again could not make an impact at the top.

India on top early

India piled on the pressure straightaway. In the next over, Hardik Pandya removed Rachin Ravindra for just one run, leaving New Zealand in all sorts of trouble early in the chase.

Earlier, India had posted a mammoth 238 runs in the first innings, helped by Abhishek Sharma’s blistering 84 off just 35 deliveries. Rinku Singh then finished the job with a quick 44, powering India to their highest-ever total against New Zealand in the T20 format.
