A video featuring India’s star batter Rohit Sharma has gone viral on social media, capturing an uncomfortable moment between the cricketer and a pair of overzealous fans. In the clip, two young supporters approach Rohit while he is seated inside his moving car. As the India opener extends his hand out of the window to acknowledge them, one fan initially shakes hands with him. Moments later, both fans attempt to pull Rohit’s hand and force a selfie.

Visibly displeased by their conduct, Rohit warns the fans before rolling up his car window and moving on. The incident has sparked debate online about fan behaviour and player safety.
Rohit was recently in action for Mumbai in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, where he produced contrasting performances. He smashed a brilliant 155 against Sikkim before being dismissed for a duck in the following match against Uttarakhand.
The veteran opener is set to return to international cricket in India’s upcoming three-match ODI series against New Zealand, beginning January 11. Rohit will be keen to carry his impressive domestic form into the new year.
The year 2025 proved to be a memorable one for the former India captain. He amassed a mountain of runs across formats, shattered multiple records and led India to a historic ICC Champions Trophy triumph. During the year, Rohit also became only the second Indian batter to reach the milestone of 20,000 international runs.
His consistency saw him climb to the top of the ICC ODI batting rankings for the first time in his career, while he also rose to become India’s third-highest run-scorer in the format.
Rohit further cemented his reputation as one of the most destructive openers in white-ball cricket by becoming the leading six-hitter in ODI history. He surpassed Shahid Afridi’s long-standing record in November during India’s first ODI against South Africa at the JSCA Stadium in Ranchi. Rohit struck his 352nd six in the format to go past Afridi’s tally of 351, a record that had stood since 2015.
As of now, Rohit has smashed 355 sixes in 279 ODIs. He finished the year with 650 runs from 14 innings at an average of 50.00 and a strike rate exceeding 100, registering two centuries and four half-centuries, with a best score of 121 not out.
In May, Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from Test cricket, bringing the curtains down on a celebrated chapter of his international career.
