NEW DELHI: Former India batter Wasim Jaffer and ex-England captain Michael Vaughan's online banter is not new to cricket fans with both players never letting any chance go to pull each other's leg.
After England suffered a crushing defeat to South Africa in the first ODI at Leeds on Tuesday, Jaffer once again tickled his funny bone on social media while taking potshots at Vaughan.
Jaffer posted an image of the ICC ODI team rankings, highlighting England's slide to a lowly eighth spot. Continuing his light-hearted banter with Vaughan, he quipped: "England at No. 8... surely against the spirit of cricket. ICC should look into this. @MichaelVaughan'."

Put in to bat first, England's batting line-up collapsed dramatically, bowled out for just 131 in 24.3 overs. South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj ripped through the middle order with a four-wicket haul, before Aiden Markram's blistering 86 off 55 balls powered the visitors to a seven-wicket victory with nearly 30 overs remaining.
Meanwhile, England skipper Harry Brook admitted his side had endured "one of those bad days." Speaking at the presentation, he said: "Not ideal. Not a great start to the series. We couldn’t get a partnership. Hopefully, we would have bowled like them. They bowled well.”
Brook emphasised that the team would bounce back quickly from the heavy defeat: "We travel to London and want to put this behind us."
