NEW DELHI: The craze among fans for Indian cricketers has always been unparalleled. They go to great lengths to catch a glimpse of their favourite stars, but at times the line is crossed, leaving players frustrated.

Their private space is often compromised as fans barge in to click selfies with them. In a video that went viral on social media, India spinner Washington Sundar was seen facing a similar situation, as he was surrounded by a group of fans seeking selfies, leaving him visibly uncomfortable and unable to accommodate their request.

However, the video sparked mixed reactions on social media, with users sharply divided over Sundar's decision to decline selfies.

Washington Sundar has represented India in 17 Tests, 28 ODIs and 58 T20Is so far, and is expected to be part of the squad for the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand.

The all-rounder will next feature in the India vs New Zealand series, where India are scheduled to play three ODIs and five T20Is against the Kiwis at home. Under head coach Gautam Gambhir, Sundar has emerged as an important component of the Indian setup across formats.

He has also been named in the T20I squad, which doubles up as India's team for the T20 World Cup 2026, set to begin on February 7.
