NEW DELHI: There is no denying that Virat Kohli's fan following is unmatched, and Gujarat's Ankit Patel has shown just how far a fan can go for his idol, leaving the cricketing world talking about his extraordinary passion for Kohli.

He recently turned heads across the cricketing fraternity with an extravagant tribute to Kohli - a bespoke iPhone case crafted from 24-carat gold.

Priced at nearly Rs 15 lakh, the case is anything but ordinary. Made from 175 grams of solid gold, it stands out for its heft and brilliance, and is adorned with a finely detailed engraving of Kohli's portrait alongside his name.

Taking his admiration a step further, Ankit has also created custom gold bracelets in Kohli's honour, underlining the scale of his devotion to the former India captain.

A promising cricketer at the local level, Ankit says the tribute was months in the making for the player he fondly refers to as his "cricketing guru."

He credits much of his batting education to watching Kohli on television, studying his technique and temperament. Such is his admiration that Ankit has travelled to London on three separate occasions, purely in the hope of seeing his idol in person.

"I have met many Indian cricketers, but meeting Virat is the dream of my life," Ankit told local media. "This gold cover represents the deep respect I have for his dedication and passion for the game."
