NEW DELHI: In a development that will delight Indian cricket fans, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are expected to feature in the upcoming three-match 50-over series against Australia A, Hindustan Times reported on Sunday.
If true, Kohli and Rohit, who announced their retirement from Test cricket in May 2025, will be seen in action for the first time since the IPL 2025.
India A will take on Australia A in three unofficial ODIs at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur, scheduled for September 30, October 3, and October 5.
Report suggests that Kohli could return to India later this month and is likely to undergo a fitness assessment in Bengaluru.
Kohli and Rohit last featured for India on March 9, 2025, in the ICC Champions Trophy final against New Zealand in Dubai. In that match, Rohit led the chase with a fluent 76 off 83 balls, guiding India to victory and earning the Player of the Match award.
Kohli, meanwhile, had been in stellar form throughout the tournament. He struck 84 off 98 balls in the semifinal against Australia on March 4 and produced an unbeaten 100 from 111 deliveries against Pakistan in the league stage on February 23. On both occasions, the 36-year-old batting great was named Player of the Match.
India will tour Australia next month for a white-ball series comprising three ODIs and five T20Is. The ODI leg will be played in Perth (October 19), Adelaide (October 23), and Sydney (October 25).
The teams will then shift focus to the T20I series, with matches scheduled in Canberra (October 29), Melbourne (October 31), Hobart (November 2), Gold Coast (November 6), and Brisbane (November 8).
