NEW DELHI: Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will return to action after a seven-month hiatus, as both stalwarts have been named in India’s squad for the three-match ODI series in Australia starting October 19.
Kohli and Rohit last featured for India in the 2025 Champions Trophy final in March. The squad also saw a transitional change, with Shubman Gill replacing Rohit as India’s new ODI captain.
Shreyas Iyer has been named vice-captain for the three-match series.

Pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has been rested for the ODI leg of the tour to manage his workload, while promising left-hander Yashasvi Jaiswal has been recalled to the 50-over setup after a string of consistent performances in T20 internationals.
The ODI squad witnessed five changes from the 15 that won the Champions Trophy in the UAE. Ravindra Jadeja and Varun Chakravarthy are unavailable, Hardik Pandya is recovering from a quadriceps injury, Rishabh Pant has yet to fully recover from the broken foot he suffered in England, and Jasprit Bumrah has been rested.
They have been replaced by all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, who missed the Champions Trophy due to injury, along with Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, Dhruv Jurel, and Yashasvi Jaiswal.
The ODIs are scheduled to be played in Sydney, Adelaide, and Melbourne between October 19 and 25 and will be followed by a five-match T20 series.
