NEW DELHI: Riding on Vaibhav Suryavanshi's whirlwind 171 off 95 balls, India delivered a commanding batting performance against the UAE in the U-19 Asia Cup match in Dubai on Friday.

Indian batters came out all guns blazing, taking UAE bowlers to the cleaners to post 433/6 - their highest-ever score in a Youth One Day International (ODI). This marked the third time India has crossed 400 in Youth ODI history, a feat unmatched by any other team in the world.

India's innings was spearheaded by 14-year-old opening batsman Suryavanshi, who played a masterful knock to anchor the team. He tore through the bowling attack smashing 14 sixes and 9 fours, blending aggression with control and laying the perfect platform for the middle order to exploit.

The momentum was carried forward by the middle-order duo of Aaron George and Vihaan Malhotra, who each contributed fluent, identical scores of 69. Their steady partnerships kept the pressure on the UAE bowlers and propelled India toward a record-breaking total.

India now own the world record for the most 400-plus innings totals in Youth ODIs, having achieved the feat three times. Their previous two 400+ scores came against Scotland (425/3 in 2004) and Uganda (405/5 in 2022).

Only a select few teams, including Australia, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka, have ever crossed the 400-run mark in Youth ODIs.

Despite this remarkable accomplishment, the record for the highest team total in Youth ODIs still belongs to Australia, who racked up a staggering 480/6 against Kenya in 2002.
