Pathan broke down the approach with a sharp observation before offering his larger analysis.
“You will notice two Virat Kohlis in this knock. One an aggressor in the powerplay and the other after the powerplay when wickets were falling and he refused to give his wicket away,” Pathan said.
He added that Kohli’s ability to switch gears comes from years of exposure to pressure situations.
“This happens when you have a lot of experience and Virat Kohli has plenty. His fitness keeps him going,” he added.
Senior players continue to lead the charge
Pathan ended by praising the form of India’s senior duo.
“The way Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are batting, I am really enjoying it. I hope they keep playing as much as possible,” he said
Kohli struck his 52nd ODI hundred to guide India to a 17 run win over South Africa. His 120 ball 135, decorated with eleven fours and seven sixes, stood out as one of his most fluent knocks in recent times.
