NEW DELHI: Ignore Sanju Samson at your own peril. The wicketkeeper-batter strengthened his claim in the playing eleven for the upcoming Asia Cup with yet another blistering knock in the Kerala Cricket League, turning up for Kochi Blue Tigers against Thrissur Titans on Tuesday.
Fresh off a blazing 121 off just 51 balls earlier this week, the 30-year-old wicketkeeper-batter once again showcased his form and intent. Samson raced to his half-century in just 26 balls, reinforcing the fearless stroke play that has kept him at the heart of India's selection debate.

The standout moment of his innings came when he hammered two consecutive sixes off the same delivery - first off a front-foot no-ball, followed by another on the resulting free hit - collecting 13 runs from a single ball. However, he missed out on back-to-back centuries, falling for a blazing 89 off just 46 balls, an innings laced with nine sixes and four fours.
This innings followed his match-winning heroics on Sunday, when Samson, chasing 236, raced to a fifty in just 16 balls and completed his century in 42. That knock highlighted not only his ability to thrive under pressure but also his adaptability - having batted at No. 6 in the previous game before returning to the top order as vice-captain.
With this knock, Samson has climbed to the top of the run-scoring charts in KCL 2025, amassing 223 runs at a stellar average of 74. With the Asia Cup 2025 around the corner, his purple patch comes as a timely boost for Team India.
