NEW DELHI: Abhishek Sharma received valuable advice from former explosive Indian batter Virender Sehwag following his match-winning knock of 74 off 39 balls against Pakistan in the Asia Cup Super 4 clash in Dubai on Sunday.
Sehwag recalled the advice he received from the great Sunil Gavaskar and shared it with Abhishek, urging him to always aim for a century once he crosses 70, as such moments don’t come too often.

Speaking on Sony Sports Network with Abhishek, Sehwag said, "Many congratulations for your innings. But I would like to say that jab sattar par pahunch jao to hundred miss mat karo (When you cross the 70-run mark, don't miss out on a hundred). Great Sunil Gavaskar had told me this." "Because when you will look back at these moments after retirement, you will regret getting out on 70s and 80s. These opportunities don't come often. So, when it's your day, try to remain unbeaten and finish the game for your team," Sehwag added.
Show host Gaurav Kapoor joined the conversation and jokingly remarked that Viru didn't need to tell Abhishek, as his mentor Yuvraj Singh would call him in a few minutes to say the same.
However, hours after the broadcasters shared the video, Yuvraj dropped a heartfelt message: "The great man said it ! No need for me to say".

The 25-year-old, along with vice-captain Shubhman Gill, notched up a 105-run partnership and breezed past the first 10 overs scoring comfortably. Ending the innings with 74 off 39, including 6 fours and 5 maximums, Abhishek made the entire country proud.
Abhishek's blistering knock against Pakistan drew high praise from former star India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, with the veteran off-spinner predicting that the youngster could go on to become "the best white-ball batter in limited-overs cricket for India."
"I want to tell you that this is not the arrival of Abhishek Sharma, this is just the beginning. He has just started, and he has a long future ahead. He is going to blow the cricketing world apart," Ashwin said on his Youtube channel.
