NEW DELHI: In a significant development, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has called for an urgent meeting with head coach Gautam Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar ahead of the second ODI against South Africa to discuss important matters, Sportstar reported.
As per reports, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia and joint secretary Prabhtej Singh Bhatia will also be part of the meeting, while the participation of BCCI president Mithun Manhas remains unclear. The possibility of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma attending the meeting is next to none since it is scheduled for a match day on Wednesday.

The development comes in the wake of the ongoing discussions around Kohli and Rohit's ODI future, especially after both stalwarts showed that they still have what it takes to perform at the highest level.
Top issues on the agenda
A senior BCCI official said that the meeting has been convened to ensure selection consistency while balancing long-term team development and overall performance.
The discussions are expected to focus on the shortcomings exposed during India's recent home Test series loss to South Africa. With head coach Gautam Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar in attendance, the board aims to gain clarity on key management issues and chart out the next steps for the team.
"During the home Test season, there have been instances of confusing tactics on and off the field. We want clarity and forward planning, especially with the next Test series eight months away," the official said.
"India will be favourites to defend the T20 World Cup next year and strong contenders for the ODI World Cup after that, so we want these issues resolved quickly," the official added.
