NEW DELHI: Ever since Suryakumar Yadav assumed India's T20I captaincy, his form has been a major concern. While the team's overall performance has been impressive, runs have dried up from his bat. However, head coach Gautam Gambhir remains unfazed by his lean patch, saying that "failures are inevitable."
'Woh reply kar raha hai': Suryakumar Yadav gives positive update on Shreyas Iyer’s recovery
Ahead of the first match of the five-match T20I series against Australia Down Under, Suryakumar Yadav remains optimistic about returning to form and stressed that his hard work will definitely pay off.
"I feel like I've been working really hard. It's not that I wasn't working hard before, I was doing it then also. I've had good sessions back home and good few sessions here so I am in good space, that is really important. Runs will come eventually but working hard towards the team goal is important," he said in Canberra.

The lone highlight in an otherwise inconsistent run has been his stellar form in the 2025 IPL, where he piled up 717 runs in 16 innings at a blistering strike rate of 167.90 for Mumbai Indians.
Surya gets GG's backing
"Honestly, Surya's batting form doesn't concern me because we have committed to an ultra-aggressive template in our dressing room. When you embrace this philosophy, failures are inevitable," Gambhir said during a discussion on JioHotstar.
"It would be easy for Surya to score 40 runs off 30 balls and avoid criticism, but we have collectively decided that it's acceptable to fail while pursuing this approach," he added.
