Suryakumar Yadav has been under constant media spotlight following the no-handshake controversy after the India vs Pakistan encounter at the ongoing Asia Cup 2025. The lack of sportsmanship shown by the Indian contingent has been spoken a lot about, but the Indian skipper put an end to that chatter by showing the world what true sportsmanship looks like.

On Tuesday, both the Indian cricket team and their Pakistani counterparts trained at the ICC Academy in Dubai. And while the time slots given to both to train were different, the two squads were both present at the venue for around an hour or so.

Later, when the practice session for Team India ended and the squad made their way back to the hotel, the Indian skipper was stopped by a hotel staff member on his way to his room. The Hotel staff wanted to click a selfie with the modern Mr. 360, and a member of the staff was recording his conversation with SKY on video. During which the staffer told him that he was from Pakistan. "Waise I am from Pakistan", the staffer told him, to which Suryakumar replied, "Arey Wahh, le le (selfie)."(That's nice, take the selfie). The staffer further said, "Hum dost hai saare"(We are all friends).

This shows that for Suryakumar Yadav, the rivalry only exists on the pitch, but off the pitch, he is full of compassion and a good human being. This displayed the T20I skipper's spirit of cricket. However, this wasn't the only time Suryakumar has shared a lovely moment with a Pakistani fan.

Around 10 months back, before the ICC Champions Trophy, another SKY video went viral when a few fans spotted Suryakumar Yadav and a few other Indian players at a game zone. The fan posed the question, "Why are you guys not travelling to Pakistan? (For the Champions Trophy)." Suryakumar Yadav smiled and replied, "Arey bhai, humare haat mei thodi hai." (Brother, it's not in our hands).

This incident shows that there are certain things that the players cannot control on an individual level. But in the end, all of them are true sportspeople who love the sport as well as those who love it.
