India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has achieved a new landmark in domestic cricket, becoming Mumbai’s highest run-scorer in T20s. He overtook Aditya Tare’s long-standing record during Mumbai’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy clash against Kerala, where he scored 32 off 25 balls. With this, Suryakumar has now amassed 1,717 runs in 71 matches at a strike-rate of 145.38, including nine half-centuries and a best of 94*.

Tare, who previously held the record, now sits second with 1,713 runs in 68 games, while Shreyas Iyer is close behind with 1,706 runs from 54 matches.

Suryakumar’s rise is backed by exceptional numbers at the international level. In 95 T20Is for India, he has scored 2,754 runs at a remarkable strike-rate of 164.41, registering four centuries and 21 fifties.

His IPL career has been equally prolific. Across 166 matches, he has accumulated 4,311 runs with two centuries and 29 half-centuries. He has also featured in eight Champions League T20 matches, scoring 123 runs at an average of 41.

Suryakumar’s consistent run-scoring, fearless strokeplay and leadership have made him one of the most influential modern T20 batters and this record only strengthens his legacy.
