India A needed just 45 runs from 30 balls with six wickets in hand to advance to the final of the 2025 Asia Cup Rising Star, but a disastrous batting display in the Super Over saw them bow out at the hands of Bangladesh A.

After Bangladesh A faltered in the final over, Jitesh Sharma and Ashutosh Sharma were dismissed for ducks in the Super Over, leaving Bangladesh with a target of just 1 run to win. Jitesh attempted a reverse-lap on a yorker aimed at middle stump but was bowled, while Ashutosh mistimed a shot to extra cover. Even though Suyash Sharma managed to take a wicket, it wasn’t enough to secure a win for India A.

Bangladesh A goes straight in the finals after defeating India A

At the end of the 15th over in India A’s chase, the Men in Blue required only 45 runs from 30 balls—a comfortably achievable 9 runs per over with six wickets in hand. However, Nehal Wadhera struggled to find form, scoring just 11 runs off 12 balls, making the chase look increasingly difficult.

Ashutosh Sharma gave India A some hope with a towering maximum over long-on, leaving 8 runs off 3 balls. That’s when Bangladesh A began to crumble. Jishan Alam dropped Ashutosh, and the ball rolled to the boundary for four. On the very next delivery, Rakibul Hasan bowled Ashutosh. With 4 runs needed off the last ball, Bangladesh A faltered again. Harsh Dubey mistimed a slog, while Wadhera jogged to the other end.

A fielder’s lapse allowed India A to run a double, and a second run followed when keeper Akbar Ali misfielded, missing the stumps entirely. India A capitalized on the errors, completing two runs and sending the match into a dramatic Super Over.

Despite the tense comeback, India A couldn’t recover in the Super Over, ending their campaign in heartbreak.
