The viral 'Dosa Idli Sambhar Chutney' moment
In previous season, a video of Jitesh at Chennai airport went viral. In the clip, he mentions “Dosa Idli Sambhar Chutney,” which drew reactions from CSK fans online.
Jitesh explained the context: “No offense, but that day it happened. I was at the airport and our media team was asking everyone what comes first when you land in Chennai. I said coconut water. They said everyone had already given an answer, so then I said from my mouth Dosa Idli because it is something South India is very good at.”
He added that it was all in good fun: “Then there was a boy nearby who said reels are trending a lot, say Dosa Idli Sambhar Chutney Chutney. I said okay and laughed. Then I went to bat, I got out, and the DJ played that song. Then it was okay. What is there to make a fuss about?”
Jitesh Sharma on CSK-RCB rivalry
On being asked about the bigger CSK-RCB rivalry, Jitesh offered a mature perspective. “This is actually my first year with RCB, so I won’t be able to say much about the opponents because I played with Punjab Kings and I’m friends with everyone there. There are no hard feelings with anyone. After joining RCB, I realised the kind of expectations the fan base has, and rightly so, because of the quality of cricketers RCB has.”
He added insight on the thrill of competition: “In sports, it’s fun when there’s a rivalry between two teams. That’s when players get recognised and so does the franchise. Right now, CSK is going through a transitional phase. But RCB’s management has done really well with the bunch of cricketers they’ve brought in.”
