NEW DELHI: South Africa have unveiled their 15‑man squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2026, set to begin in Sri Lanka and India from 7 February.

The Proteas will be looking to go one step further this time and bring home the title after finishing as runners-up in previous edition.

Explosive batting lineup

Aiden Markram will lead the side as captain, bringing calm experience and tactical nous at the top of the order. The batting lineup also features the exciting Dewald Brevis, whose blistering power hitting has caught the attention of cricket fans around the world.

Quinton de Kock will anchor the innings with his world‑class strokeplay, while Tony de Zorzi holds the middle order together with reliable run‑making ability.

South Africa boast a strong group of all‑rounders who can change the game in both departments. Donovan Ferreira and Marco Jansen provide depth with the bat and valuable overs with the ball, giving the team balance and flexibility through the middle stages of the innings.

Finishing strength and bowling arsenal

Experienced David Miller will be entrusted with the finishing duties, known for his calm under pressure and ability to clear the ropes in the final overs.

The bowling unit is led by strike bowlers Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje, offering pace and aggression. Lungi Ngidi adds further swing and seam threat, while spin duties will largely be handled by Keshav Maharaj, bringing craft and control in the middle overs.

Notable omissions

Two key players, Tristan Stubbs and Ryan Rickelton, have been left out of the squad following their recent struggles in the shortest format.

South Africa have been placed in Group D with Afghanistan, Canada, New Zealand, and the United Arab Emirates, and will kick off their campaign against Canada on 9 February in Ahmedabad.
