The highly anticipated wedding of Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal has been postponed due to a sudden family emergency. Smriti’s father, Srinivas Mandhana, suffered a heart attack while wedding preparations were underway at the Mandhana Farm House in Samdol, Sangli, according to Tuhin Mishra, Smriti’s business manager.
Mr. Mandhana was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Sangli, where he is currently under urgent medical care. Sources close to the family confirmed that Smriti and her immediate family quickly went to the hospital upon hearing the news. As of now, his condition is reported to be stable and under observation.
The wedding management has officially informed the media that today’s ceremony has been called off. No date has been announced yet for when the wedding festivities will resume.
Tuhin Mishra elaborated, “This morning, while having breakfast, Mr. Srinivas Mandhana fell unwell. At first, we thought it might be normal, but as his condition worsened, we decided not to take any risk and immediately took him to the hospital. He is now under observation.”
He added, “Smriti is very close to her father, and she has decided that the marriage, which was planned for today, is indefinitely postponed. The doctor has advised that he will need to stay in the hospital, and until he recovers, we are prioritising his health.”
Work is currently underway to remove the wedding decorations at the Samdol venue. Both families have requested privacy as they focus on Mr. Mandhana’s recovery.
The couple had planned to exchange vows on November 23 in Sangli, Maharashtra, in the presence of close family members and fans. Members of India’s Women’s World Cup-winning cricket team were expected to attend the celebrations.
In recent days, social media was filled with videos and pictures from the couple’s pre-wedding festivities, including vibrant Haldi and Mehandi ceremonies, friendly cricket matches, and other celebratory events. All remaining wedding activities have now been indefinitely postponed.
