NEW DELHI: India’s skipper Shubman Gill, who injured his neck during the first Test against South Africa in Kolkata, is set to start his rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru from December 1.
A report on TimesofIndia.com stated that Gill was asked to reach the CoE about a week before the T20I series against South Africa.
Travel and early recovery
Gill completed physiotherapy in Mumbai before heading to Chandigarh to spend time with his family.
He is scheduled to fly from Chandigarh to Bengaluru on Monday.
TimesofIndia.com reported that he has shown no discomfort despite multiple flights taken over the past week.
He has stayed away from batting so far but is expected to resume under the supervision of the BCCI medical staff once he settles in.
An official quoted by TimesofIndia.com said Gill’s recovery is moving smoothly.
“There are no red flags at the moment and he has taken multiple flights without any discomfort. All efforts right now are aimed at having him back on the park but it will not be a rushed process.”
The official added that his comeback will only happen when he signals full readiness.
“The moment he is 100% and feels ready for the grind, he will be back with the squad. He is an important all format player and everyone wants him to be absolutely ready.”
Gill was hospitalised after the neck injury in Kolkata and missed both the first Test and the match in Guwahati.
His workload and progress will now be monitored closely in Bengaluru as he begins structured rehabilitation.
