During a session that he was trying to brighten up with some impromptu dance moves, Indian T20I vice-captain Shubman Gill was in a playful mood in Canberra. As catching drills were being done, Gill brought smiles on the faces of his teammates with his funny "desi" dance moves, and they were obviously very happy to watch.
Shubman Gill aims to regain form after disappointing Asia Cup
Following a 1-2 defeat in the ODI series, India would definitely want to show up their real power in the next five-match T20I series against Australia, which is starting on October 29 at Canberra. Before the important first game, the Men in Blue got down to a hard net practice where Gill’s amusing antics kept everyone’s eyes.
A video clip captured Gill in the middle of a light-hearted jig during fielding practice, thus cracking up his teammates and the support staff with laughter.
Nevertheless, apart from the joke, the T20I series is very important to the young opener. Gill had a poor ODI series where he scored only 43 runs in three innings with an average of 14.33, and now he will be striving to regain his form in the shorter format.
Gill’s last T20I was the Asia Cup 2025, where he made 127 runs in seven innings at an average of 21.17 and a strike rate of 151.19. He didn’t get to play a T20I match between that and the Australia tour.
He really illuminated the Super 4 stage clash against Pakistan with an explosive 47 off 28, yet overall he was very inconsistent and some experts even put him in their “Flop XI” of the tournament.
Despite the rough patch Gill has been through, the Indian squad is still confident and supportive of him as a player for the future. Gill will surely be motivated to show up with the bat and make his mark in the T20I series against Australia, given his role as a leader and his inherent quality.
