Put in to bat, Mumbai posted 299 for 9 in a match reduced to a 33-overs-per-side contest, with Iyer and opener Musheer Khan (73) leading the scoring.
Iyer, who recently recovered from the spleen injury he suffered in Australia and was cleared by the Centre of Excellence, hammered 10 fours and three sixes in his 53-ball 82. Khan supported him well, striking seven fours and three sixes in his 51-ball knock.
India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and national T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav contributed 15 and 24 respectively.
For Himachal Pradesh, Vaibhav Arora, Abhishek Kumar and Kushal Pal picked up three wickets each.
Himachal came close to chasing down the target despite losing two wickets without scoring at the end of the first over. They were eventually bowled out for 292 in 32.4 overs.
Pukhraj Mann and Mayank Dagar scored identical knocks of 64, while wicketkeeper Ankush Bains added a useful 53.
Dube dismissed Mann and then ripped through Himachal’s lower order with his pace bowling to finish with impressive figures of 4/68.
Gill makes 11 but Punjab win
Choosing to bowl first, Punjab dismissed Goa for 211 in 33.3 overs in a match curtailed to 40 overs per side. Leg-spinner Mayank Markande led the attack with figures of 3/29, while India pacer Arshdeep Singh, Sukhdeep Singh Bajwa and Krish Bhagat claimed two wickets each.
Suyash Prabhudessai top-scored for Goa with 66, while Lalit Yadav chipped in with 54.
In reply, Punjab’s chase got off to a shaky start as Prabhsimran Singh (2) and India Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill departed early, reducing the side to 17 for 2 in 4.1 overs.
Playing his first match of the 2025–26 Vijay Hazare Trophy, Gill could manage only 11 off 12 deliveries.
However, Harnoor Singh (94 not out) and Naman Dhir (68) steadied the innings and guided Punjab to 212 for 4 in 35 overs.
