The 43-year-old announced on Tuesday that he has stepped away from playing in the PSL after a decade-long association with the league. Malik had earlier retired from international cricket, bringing an end to an illustrious on-field career.

According to sources close to the former all-rounder, Malik is expected to be involved with the Sialkot franchise in PSL 11 in a management or coaching capacity. A native of Sialkot, Malik has a deep connection with the region, having captained the team in domestic cricket and the Champions League, while also guiding them to multiple national T20 titles before the PSL was launched in 2016.

The franchise owners are reportedly keen to tap into Malik’s vast experience and leadership skills as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming season. Malik himself is understood to be enthusiastic about the opportunity and could soon be appointed to a key role.

Widely regarded as a white-ball specialist, Malik enjoyed a stellar career, amassing close to 10,000 runs across ODIs and T20Is, and remains one of Pakistan’s most experienced campaigners in limited-overs cricket.
