NEW DELHI: Shivam Dube delivered an all-round performance in the Asia Cup final against Pakistan. In the absence of injured Hardik Pandya, the lanky Dube was tasked with bowling the first over, and the pressure seemed to get the better of him, as he conceded 12 runs in two overs during the powerplay.
Not just with the ball, Dube also played a handy knock of 33 off 22 balls and shared a 60-run stand with Tilak Varma for the fifth wicket before being dismissed on the final ball of the 19th over.
Following India's thrilling five-wicket victory over Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 final, attention quickly shifted to the Impact Player of the Match award. As per tradition, the winner is chosen by a member of the support staff, and on this occasion, team physiotherapist Kamlesh Jain was entrusted with the responsibility.
"What a day to give this medal. A big day, a big game, a big final and he had to do a slightly different role which the team wanted him to do. From bowling that first over and initial punch to those two crucial overs in the powerplay, and hitting those boundaries exactly when the team required it, today's impact player - Shivam Dube," Jain said.

Dube acknowledged the pressure of bowling the first over but credited his success to the unwavering support of his teammates.
"Bowled the first over, I was under pressure 100%. If I say I wasn't, I'd be lying. I was very scared as well. But everyone supported me and it went away," he admitted.
Riding on Tilak Varma's sensational half-century, India overcame Pakistan by five wickets in a thrilling final on Sunday, clinching their second title in this format.
After bowling out Pakistan for a modest 146, India chased down the target of 147 with just two balls to spare. Varma starred with an unbeaten 69 off 53 balls, while Dube played a quickfire 33 off 22 deliveries, combining with Varma for a crucial 60-run fifth-wicket partnership.
