NEW DELHI: Pakistan's left-arm fast bowler Shaheen Afridi has earned a recall to the Test side for the upcoming two-match series against South Africa in October. Afridi was not part of Pakistan's last Test series against the West Indies earlier this year.

Shan Masood will once again lead the 18-member squad side as they commence their ICC World Test Championship campaign.

Pakistan have left out fellow pacer Naseem Shah, while experienced campaigners Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan feature in a provisional squad that will be trimmed before the opening Test in Lahore on October 12.

The squad also includes three uncapped players - Asif Afridi, Faisal Akram, and Rohail Nazir - who are in line to make their Test debuts against the reigning World Test Championship holders.

The PCB confirmed that the squad for the white-ball series following the Tests will be announced at a later stage.
