NEW DELHI: Opener Shafali Verma will replace Pratika Rawal in the Indian squad for the remainder of the ICC Women's World Cup after the latter sustained ankle and knee injuries during the final league match against Bangladesh, the BCCI confirmed.

"Team India all-rounder Pratika Rawal has been ruled out of the remainder of the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 due to an ankle injury and knee injury sustained while fielding in India's final league stage match of the tournament against Bangladesh, in Navi Mumbai," BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said in a statement

"The BCCI Medical team will continue to monitor her progress. The team wishes Pratika Rawal a speedy recovery. The Women's selection committee has named Shafali Verma as the replacement of Pratika Rawal," it added.

Pratika twisted her ankle while fielding during the abandoned Women's World Cup match against Bangladesh on Sunday.

Rawal, stationed at deep midwicket, injured her right ankle on the final ball of the 21st over when her foot got stuck on the wet outfield at the DY Patil Stadium, forcing her to hobble off the field.
