NEW DELHI: India batter Shafali Verma's sublime form against Sri Lanka in the five-match T20I series has seen her jump four places to sixth in the latest ICC Women's T20I batting rankings, also putting her firmly in contention to regain the No.1 spot.
The top-ranked batter Shafali has smashed three consecutive half-centuries against Sri Lanka, scoring 69 not out, followed by unbeaten knocks of 79 in the second and third matches, before blazing her way to another 79 in the fourth game of the series.
Vice-captain Smriti Mandhana snapped her lean run with a stylish 80 in the fourth T20I and held on to third place in the latest batting rankings, while Jemimah Rodrigues dropped one spot to sit 10th.

Richa Ghosh has also made notable gains in the latest T20I batting rankings, with the 22-year-old climbing seven places to joint 20th overall after her unbeaten 40 in the fourth match of the series against Sri Lanka in Thiruvananthapuram.
In the bowling charts, experienced all-rounder Deepti Sharma remains firmly entrenched at No.1, with fellow Indian pacer Renuka Singh Thakur also featuring inside the top 10.
Thakur, who has held a career-high third position in the bowling rankings, gained eight places to reach joint-sixth position following a match-winning haul of four for 21 in the third match that India won by eight wickets to seal the series.
India's left-arm spinners Shree Charani and Vaishnavi Sharma have also progressed in the latest weekly rankings update with the home side taking a 4-0 lead in the five-match series.
Charani has moved up 17 places to 52nd in the bowling rankings while Vaishnavi Sharma has galloped 390 places to reach 124th position in her first international series as the 50-over world champions weigh their options in preparation for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 to be held in England and Wales from June 12 to July 5.
