NEW DELHI: Sanju Samson has become the most talked-about player as the IPL retention deadline approaches. Rumors have set social media abuzz, suggesting that the wicketkeeper-batter could be traded to Chennai Super Kings from Rajasthan Royals.

As the rumours continue to swirl, CSK shared a witty post on social media featuring CEO Kasi Viswanathan and mascot Leo, asking fans to stay patient until the official announcement is made.

In the video, Viswanathan poked fun at the trade rumors, joking that social media suggested he might be traded to Punjab Kings in exchange for Preity Zinta. The clip was set to a song from Rajinikanth's movie Vettaiyan, featuring a prominent verse in Malayalam.

The post concluded with a disclaimer, stating: "Trade rumours are subject to mental health risks. Wait till the official announcement for sanity."

With the IPL retention deadline set for November 15, all eyes in the cricketing world will be on potential blockbuster trades between franchises.

The good news for CSK fans is that their iconic player MS Dhoni will feature in the 2026 edition of the Indian Premier League, putting an end to speculation about the veteran's future.

"MS has told us that he will be available for the next season," Viswanathan was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

According to the report Viswanathan has said Dhoni remains closely involved in the franchise's plans for the upcoming season.

Dhoni has been involved in the team's retention and trade discussions, with a meeting scheduled next week among key members including Viswanathan, skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and coach Stephen Fleming ahead of the November 15 retention deadline.

The 44-year-old led CSK last year in the absence of regular skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, though the five-time champions endured a poor campaign, finishing at the bottom of the table.

Dhoni led the franchise to five IPL titles (2010, 2011, 2018, 2021 and 2023).

If he turns out next season, it will mark his 17th season with CSK and 19th overall in the IPL.
