NEW DELHI: Indian batter Ruturaj Gaikwad has etched his name into the record books, overtaking Virat Kohli to achieve the highest batting average by an Indian in List A cricket history (minimum 50 innings).
The right-handed batter got to the milestone during his unbeaten 66-run knock off 52 balls for Maharashtra against Mumbai in the Vijay Hazare Trophy match in Jaipur on Saturday.
Gaikwad has so far amassed 4,904 runs in 97 List A matches, boasting a staggering average of 57.69, narrowly edging past Virat Kohli's 57.67, who has scored 16,207 runs in 344 matches.

While Kohli has long been regarded as one of the greatest limited-overs batters of all time, Gaikwad's achievement highlights the emergence of another top-tier talent in Indian cricket.
This remarkable milestone comes at a time when Gaikwad has been consistently delivering for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL and for India in various formats, proving his mettle as a dependable top-order batter.
With such numbers, Gaikwad not only joins the elite list of Indian batting greats but also cements his reputation as one of the most consistent performers in modern List A cricket.
