NEW DELHI: India ODI captain Rohit Sharma, who is reportedly set to play in the three-match 50-over series against Australia A, was spotted visiting Mumbai's Kokilaben Hospital on Monday night, sparking concerns among fans about the reason for his visit.

A video that went viral on social media showed Rohit cautiously taking the stairs while entering the hospital and avoiding questions from photographers.

Rohit recently cleared his fitness test at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, paving the way for his participation in the ODI series against Australia starting October 19.

Earlier this year, Rohit bid farewell to Test cricket, drawing the curtain on a career that spanned 67 matches and yielded 4,301 runs at an average of 40.58, with 12 centuries to his name.

Speaking at a CEAT event in Mumbai, the India captain reflected on the format, acknowledging that the demands of Test cricket had taken a significant toll on him both mentally and physically.

"Especially in the Test format, you have to last five days. Mentally, it is very challenging and draining as well. But all cricketers have been brought up playing First-Class cricket, so you learn to cope with it," Rohit said.

"When we start playing cricket at a competitive level, even in Mumbai, club cricket (matches) go on for two days (or) three days so we are built like that and it starts at a very young age for us. It kind of makes it a little easier how to respond to situations that are there in front of you," he added.
