A video of former India captain Rohit Sharma has gone viral, reflecting his humble nature and reverence for the sport. At the 2025 CEAT Cricket Awards, fellow cricketer Shreyas Iyer was spotlighted for a moment where he put his award down on the floor, and Rohit was stunned and quickly picked it up and put it back on the table just to show that he is aware and has great respect for trophies, which warmed hearts quickly on the internet.

Shreyas Iyer was acknowledged at the awards for his exceptional performances during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which India won under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. Iyer was India’s highest run-scorer in the tournament, and he played an important part in contributing to the team winning their second consecutive ICC white-ball title, after having won the T20 World Cup 2024.

The stylish right-hander, Shreyas Iyer, finished as the second-highest run-getter overall in the Champions Trophy, amassing 243 runs in five innings. His performances included two vital fifties and several match-defining partnerships. Iyer’s ability to blend controlled aggression with smart shot selection proved instrumental in stabilising the middle order and accelerating the scoring rate when needed. Reflecting on his success, Iyer said, “I performed in all these tournaments, and they helped me boost my momentum and confidence heading into the Champions Trophy. Then I was lucky to have played in ODIs against England and stamp my authority there.”

Moving forward, Iyer will face a fresh test as India's vice-captain for the subsequent three-match ODI series against Australia, starting on October 19. Although he has a mixed record in Australia, his current form with 424 runs in eight ODIs this year at an average of 53 and a strike rate of 93.59, suggests a player poised to flourish on the world stage again.
