NEW DELHI: Putting all retirement rumours to rest, India's ODI captain Rohit Sharma is set to make a competitive comeback by featuring for India A in the unofficial ODI series against Australia A, according to RevSportz. The series will take place just ahead of India's white-ball tour of Australia, scheduled to begin in October.

The three-match unofficial ODI series will kick off on 30 September 2025, with all games scheduled to be held in Kanpur.

Rohit hasn't featured in competitive cricket since representing Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025 and could use the India A series as preparation for India's upcoming white-ball tour of Australia.

Rohit retired from T20Is after winning the 2024 T20 World Cup and bid farewell to Test cricket in May this year. He last represented India in March, during the Champions Trophy final against New Zealand.

Rohit is keen to get some match practice before flying to Australia, which is why he plans to feature in the three unofficial ODIs at Green Park, as per RevSportz. The Australia A squad will include players such as Jake Fraser-McGurk, Todd Murphy, Aaron Hardie, and Tanveer Sangha, among others.

India's tour of Australia begins on October 19 with a three-match ODI series, scheduled at Optus Stadium (Perth), Adelaide Oval (Adelaide), and Sydney Cricket Ground (Sydney) on October 19, 23, and 25, respectively. The tour will also feature a five-match T20I series.
