NEW DELHI: A light-hearted moment unfolded on the field when Lungi Ngidi faced Kuldeep Yadav in third ODI between India and South Africa. In 45th over, Ngidi prodded forward, and the ball struck his back thigh. Kuldeep immediately pleaded with captain KL Rahul to take a review.
Rohit steps in with his experience
As Kuldeep asked for DRS, Rohit Sharma, standing at slips, playfully waved him back with a hand signal, indicating it did not look out. KL Rahul also remained unmoved. Virat Kohli, fielding nearby, couldn’t help but share a smile at the amusing scene. Kuldeep’s pleas went unheard, and Ngidi survived that delivery.

Kuldeep wasn’t done yet. On next-to-next ball, he slipped in a conventional spin after a couple of googlies. The ball spun sharply, beating the inside edge and striking Ngidi right in front. Umpire Madanagopal raised the finger, and DRS confirmed it was clipping the top of leg stump. Finally, Kuldeep’s insistence was rewarded.
During the innings break, Kuldeep reflected on the playful chaos:
"In DRS, I'm someone who's very bad. He keeps pulling my leg. Whenever I'm bowling, if I try to hit the pad and succeed in that, I feel every ball is wicket. When you have a former captain and KL too, especially in DRS calls, as a bowler you feel like every not out is out. You need seniors like that to guide you."
