NEW DELHI: Records tumbling on the opening day of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 as Ishan Kishan added another sensational chapter to his batting exploits.

Just moments after Vaibhav Suryavanshi had entered the record books with a blistering 36-ball century, Kishan took the spotlight, smashing the second-fastest hundred in the elite list.

Unreal Run! Vaibhav Suryavanshi smashes record-breaking ton in Vijay Hazare Trophy

Batting at number six for Jharkhand against Karnataka, Kishan was unstoppable. He raced to 125 runs off just 39 balls, hitting seven fours and 14 sixes at an extraordinary strike rate of 320.51. His innings single-handedly propelled Jharkhand to a massive total of 412 for nine in their 50 overs.

Other notable contributions included Virat Singh scoring 88 off 68 balls with eight fours and four sixes, while Kumar Kushagra added 63 from 47 deliveries with five sixes. But it was Kishan’s whirlwind performance that captured all attention, leaving fans and opponents alike in awe.

This comes after an impressive Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy season where Kishan scored over 500 runs, including a spectacular century in the final that led his team to their maiden title.

Riding on his brilliant white-ball form, Kishan is now part of the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup 2026, continuing to justify the selectors’ faith in him.

With such performances, Kishan is not just rewriting record books but also cementing his reputation as one of India’s most explosive and reliable batters in domestic and international white-ball cricket.
