NEW DELHI: Vidarbha batter Dhruv Shorey entered the record books with an unbeaten 109 off 77 balls during the Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Hyderabad in Rajkot on Friday.

This was Shorey's fifth consecutive century in List A cricket, which saw him draw level with N Jagadeesan's record for the most successive hundreds (five) in the format.

Shorey produced a dominant knock, smashing nine boundaries and clearing the ropes six times as Vidarbha piled up an imposing 365 for 5 after being asked to bat first. The hundred was the eighth of Shorey's List A career, further underlining his consistency in the format.

Shorey's remarkable streak of five centuries began during the knockout stages of the 2024–25 Vijay Hazare Trophy, where he struck hundreds in the quarter-final, semi-final and final.

The right-handed batter Shorey carried his form into the new season, hammering a 136 off 125 balls against Bengal in Vidarbha's opening match. However, his effort went in vain as Bengal chased down 383 with three wickets in hand.

Jagadeesan's streak of five consecutive centuries came during the 2022–23 Vijay Hazare Trophy and featured a record-breaking 277 against Arunachal Pradesh, the highest individual score in List A cricket.

Following him on the list are Karun Nair, Devdutt Padikkal, Kumar Sangakkara, and Alviro Petersen, each with four consecutive hundreds. Notably, Sangakkara is the only player among them to have achieved all four in international cricket.
